    The Cook Islands (Māori: Kūki 'Āirani), similar to Niue, is a self-governing island nation in the South Pacific. The country is in free association with New Zealand and basically represented by it. So, New Zealand conducts most diplomatic relations on its behalf.   • Niue (New Zealand)
    Niue (Niuean: Niuē, NYOO-ay) is a Pacific Island paradise that is one of the smallest, most isolated islands and of the largest raised coral atolls on earth. It is sometimes known as "the Rock of Polynesia", or simply "the Rock". The tiny island country of Niue in the South Pacific Ocean is located in Polynesia and lies northeast of New Zealand. It is a single island, internally self-governing island state in free association with New Zealand. Niue is found midway between Tonga and the Cook Islands. It is the westernmost of the Cook Islands but is administratively separate from them. Ideal Time to Go: April through to November. It is known for migrating whales swimming in Niue's waters between July and October. Population Density: Low In a Word: "Fakaue" (Niuean for Thank You) "Fakalofa lahi atu" (Niuean for Hello) Attractions: Famous for its limestone cliffs and coral-reef dive sites. An upthrust coral reef home to superb chasms, ravines, gullies and caves that extend underwater that make spectacular scuba-diving sites. In the southeast is the Huvalu Forest Conservation Area, where trails through fossilised coral forests lead to the Togo and Vaikona chasms. The northwest is home to the rock pools of Avaiki Cave and the naturally formed Talava Arches. Did you know? There is very little beach. Niueans are New Zealand citizens. Approximately 90 per cent of Niue's population lives in New Zealand. Niue is experiencing a population decline, like a number of other Pacific nations.   • Caribbean
    Known for idyllic beaches and sparkling turquoise seas, the Caribbean is a popular destination for sun-seekers in search of a tropical escape. Every day is some kind of adventure. Ideal time to visit Typically between December and April of boasts the driest weather along with pleasant temperatures that are neither too hot nor too cold, and low humidity. With great weather, however, can also also mean that this is a busier period and prices may be slightly higher. May, June and November in the Caribbean - falling just outside the rainy season - are also good times to enjoy plenty of sunshine and relaxed vibes with the odd shower. These months tend to be quieter and cost less than the peak months. Did you know? The rainy season in the Caribbean typically falls between June and November however there can be some slight variation in this. Typically this season is characterised by showers and short heavy downpours rather than constant rainfall throughout the day, so this shouldn’t put you off visiting during this time as you will still get sunshine! It’s worth bearing in mind that travel does tend to be cheapest at this time of year and the islands are generally not as busy either. The best time to visit Chile on a budget is September through October (spring) and March through May (autumn/fall), which are the shoulder seasons that bookend the peak summer season. Travel is also recommended in Costa Rica's green season, from May to June or in November. The best time to go on a wildlife holiday to Costa Rica is from late December to April. It is an internally self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Ideal Time to Go: Aim to visit the Falkland Islands between October and April. The best months, with the warmest weather, longest hours of daylight and excellent wildlife and hiking opportunities, are November to February.     Ideal Time to Go: The best time to visit Honduras is during the dry season between December and April. Temperatures are warm, sitting between 79°F (26°C) and 90°F (32°C), and downpours are less likely — although remember they can still occur, as Honduras is a tropical country. However, travel to Honduras can be enjoyable all year round. Book early as it is the peak season. The Andes are the longest continental mountain range in the world. Around the 1970s, the mayor of Cusco changed the city's official spelling from “Cuzco” to “Cusco” because the Quechua language did not have a “z” sound, and so the “Cusco” spelling is truer to the original Quechua pronunciation. You can still marvel at the wondrous Inca ruins if time and/or energy is limited. Do a day trip to the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu by scenic train ride. Go around dawn (daybreak) to enjoy a full day of magic with the wondrous Inca ruins. Huayna Picchu (Quechua: Wayna Pikchu) round which the Urubamba River bends and Machu Picchu mountain are two mountains on opposite sides of the Machu Picchu archeological site. Huayna Picchu rises over Machu Picchu, the picturesque lost city of the Incas. Permits are required and typically booked in advance as spaces are limited - but if your trip to the region is spontaneous - it's worth checking availability even at very short notice.
  • Puerto Rico
    An archipelago in the Caribbean Sea consisting of the main island, four small islands, and hundreds of cays and islets. The island territory, officially the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, is a Caribbean island and unincorporated territory of the United States. Although only 100 miles long and 35 miles wide (8,870 square kilometres), it boasts a tropical rainforest and is a beachgoers paradise. Ideal Time to Go: Generally best between December and April for fresh weather, empty beaches from locals, and to catch local festivals, but it is also the high season for tourists.     Ideal Time to Go: The best time of year to visit Venezuela is from December to April, during the dry season. In the wet season, the heat can be suffocating and there can be lots of rainfall, making visits to the Amazon rainforest trickier than usual. The lowland areas, by contrast, experience little precipitation.
